The RvA (Dutch Accreditation Council) is the national accreditation body of the Netherlands, responsible for accrediting and renewing conformity assessment bodies, including laboratories, inspection, certification and verification organizations. Established in 1995 through the merger of several key Dutch quality organizations NKO, STERLAB/STERIN and the Certification Council (RvC) the RvA operates as a non-profit private organization. In 2010, it was officially appointed by the Dutch government as the national accreditation authority under European Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008. Recognized across Europe and internationally, RvA accreditation ensures the highest levels of impartiality, reliability and global recognition, empowering certified organizations to demonstrate quality, competence and compliance with international standards.

The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) is a global consortium of leading automotive manufacturers and trade associations established to enhance product quality and consistency across the automotive industry. It developed the IATF 16949 standard, which sets internationally recognized quality system requirements for suppliers of production materials, components and services. The IATF also creates unified policies, certification procedures and training programs to ensure consistent implementation worldwide. Its members include major automotive manufacturers such as BMW, Daimler, Ford, General Motors, Renault, Volkswagen and PSA Group, along with industry associations like AIAG (U.S.), ANFIA (Italy), FIEV (France), SMMT (U.K.), and VDA QMC (Germany). Through these collaborations, the IATF promotes excellence, reliability and continuous improvement across the global automotive supply chain.

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), a non-profit subsidiary of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is one of the world’s leading accreditation bodies with signatory recognition under both the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). ANAB provides accreditation for a wide range of conformity assessment bodies, including management systems certification bodies, testing and calibration laboratories, forensic and inspection organizations, reference material producers, and proficiency testing providers. Its portfolio covers the full spectrum of conformity assessment accreditation. In addition to the ANAB programs, it includes ANSI programs for ISO/IEC 17024 personnel certifiers, ISO/IEC 17065 product certifiers, and ISO/IEC 14065 greenhouse gas verifiers.

The National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI), serves as India’s national accreditation body. It provides accreditation to certification and inspection bodies in accordance with ISO standards, international guidelines, and NABCB own accreditation criteria. NABCB evaluates organizations based on their technical competence and impartiality, ensuring that accredited bodies meet globally recognized standards of quality and reliability. Internationally recognized, NABCB represents India within key global forums such as the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), along with regional bodies like PAC and APLAC. As a signatory to the Multilateral and Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MLAs/MRAs), it promotes the worldwide acceptance of Indian certifications and inspections, strengthening global trade confidence and industry credibility.

Developed around the FAMI-QS Code of Practice, it integrates Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP-based risk controls, and a framework for continuous improvement, helping organizations minimize contamination risks, strengthen process efficiency, and maintain consistent product quality. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) is India’s national regulator for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cosmetics, operating under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Directorate General of Health Services. Charged with protecting public health, CDSCO oversees clinical trial approvals, product registration, manufacturing licences, import controls, inspections and post-market surveillance under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act; it also enforces quality, safety and efficacy standards for drugs and devices across the country. Working with international bodies and harmonisation initiatives, CDSCO aligns India’s regulatory practice with global norms while enabling market access and fostering innovation.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) oversees the Third-Party Audit Program under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Safety Auditing) Regulations, 2018, to enhance transparency and strengthen India’s food safety ecosystem. Through this initiative, FSSAI authorizes empanelled certification bodies like IRQS to conduct independent audits of Food Business Operators (FBOs), verifying compliance with hygiene, quality, and safety standards prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. These audits may be mandatory or voluntary, depending on the nature, risk category, and operational scale of the food business. Mandatory audits apply to high-risk categories such as large-scale manufacturers and processors, while voluntary participation allows other businesses to demonstrate proactive commitment to food safety and regulatory excellence. The program promotes consistent compliance, minimizes safety risks and builds consumer trust through verified, third-party assurance of robust food safety management systems.
